Glendover Basketball Summer Session Information
Hello Glendover Basketball Fans!
PLEASE READ THIS PAGE IN ITS ENTIRETY PRIOR TO ENROLLING FOR THE SUMMER SESSION!!!
Our Summer League is not like our Winter League and has several different aspects to be aware of prior to signing up your children. Registration begins April 29th at glendoverbasketball.com.
We anticipate a full session, so register soon!
Games
Games will begin in late May and conclude with a tournament in early August. We will have weeknight games Monday through Friday, and all day on Saturday. Divisions are not locked in to playing on specific nights (we do not play all the Training games every Tuesday, for example.) This allows you to work around any "fixed" nights in your schedule that would preclude you from joining our league. Most weeks you will play one or two games. Games will be played at Calvary Baptist and Crestwood Christian Church.
We like to call the Summer League “organized pickup” - Summer is about vacations, the lake, the pool, backyard cookouts, and relaxing. Our league anticipates players missing games, coaches missing games, etc. Often one team will show up with only four players and the other with eight. The coaches will switch a few players to even up the teams and play on. I stress these issues because in the past some parents have been disappointed with the laid-back nature of our summer league. Truth be told, that is exactly what we are shooting for (pun intended).
The most common concern I get from parents goes like this: "We stay pretty busy during the summer, but my child really wants to play. Many of his friends are playing, but I hate to make the commitment and miss games." My response is simple: if the cost of playing will stress you out, concerned with making each game, you may want to pass on signing up. If you do not feel obligated to make each game simply to justify the cost, you will be fine. As I said, we will all miss games and it does not matter. I am not skipping a weekend at the lake with my family because one of the kids has a basketball game. Our coaches share this mentality and are made very aware of this mindset when they volunteer to coach. Players (and head coaches) may miss several games. In the event that a coach is out of town, a team parent will likely take over that game. We do not keep standings.
Note: Participants must be registered in order to play. Unfortunately, due to legal concerns, non-registered participants (a visiting friend or cousin) cannot be added to a team who might be shorthanded that day.
Practices
Your team might have one or two preseason practices, but we do not have league-sponsored practice during the summer season, which means your kids may not get a lot of coaching. Some teams find times to practice if parents or coaches choose to do so on their own. We give the kids and parents a relaxed, stress-free environment to play basketball in the summer.
Divisions
Grade indicates 2025-2026 Fall class.
If you have friend or coach requests please add them in the notes section during registration.
We are happy to provide flexibility between divisions. You can enroll either a level up or down if you choose. Send us an email and we can discuss any questions you may have. It is our goal to get your child in the spot they will most enjoy playing. While requests to play with friends may be honored, we are not a "Bring-your-own-team" league.
There are no evaluations or drafts in the summer season.

Enrollment is online at glendoverbasketball.com. Registration opens April 29th. Many divisions will fill up quickly, so please register within the first week. Registration requires payment by Visa/Mastercard/Discover. The enrollment procedure will also allow you to mail a check/cash, but you must get that payment to GBL within 7 days (mail or drop-off) to avoid being moved to the waitlist. When you are at the payment section of the online enrollment, you will notice CASH is not one of the options. You can select CHECK and still get cash to us within the 7-day period. Mailing address is noted at checkout.
Those of you unable to enroll utilizing these tools can contact me to make other arrangements.
For those of you who played in the Winter League, the Summer League teams are totally unrelated to the Winter. While Winter League teams carry over from season to season within a division, the Summer League teams are new every year. Playing "up" a division is allowed. 5th graders should consider which option is best for them. The Prep Division (4th/5th* grade) is played on 9-foot goals using a junior division size ball (28.5). The JV Division (5th*/6th/7th) is played on 10-foot goals and uses a regulation size ball. 5th graders can select which division best suits their skill set. I encourage anyone with questions regarding the divisions to give me a call. I am always happy to help.
That should cover most of the main issues. Please contact me with any questions or concerns. I love talking Glendover Basketball. Thank you.
